Welcome to the parent section of the Jefferson Parish Public School System’s (JPPSS) outreach site. Whether you are already established in the area or new to our system, we hope the information on this site will help answer any questions you may have. If not, please feel free to contact us and we can point you in the right direction.
Research shows that parental involvement in school boosts student performance and confidence, so we are excited to partner with you. Whether you volunteer everyday, meet once a month with the PTO, or attend school family functions, your presence is valuable to us.
We truly believe through parent partnerships, we can better educate our students. We know the best way to help our students is to help you, the parent. We hope to start a Parent Academy in which monthly workshops on a variety of topics like: How to read test scores and What do they really mean, to Summer Enrichment Ideas, can be discussed. These monthly sessions conveniently take place on your child’s school campus and are open for topic suggestions.
Another way we would love to partner with you is through your child’s school PTO. Parent-Teacher Organizations are a great way to meet other families in your child’s class and school. It’s also a chance for you as a parent to bring in your skills and talent to help build the school community and environment that you, the administration and the organization envision. So join your child’s PTO today!
There is also a parent forum to post information, discuss educational issues, and share local and cultural events. This forum is not intended for personal issues as those sensitive topics should be worked out at the individual school. Through a sharing of ideas and experiences, we can learn what worked and what didn’t and carry-out those successes.
We look forward to working with you!
